This report is designed to test your knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods and your ability to design research studies.
This report will consist of two essay questions of 1,000 words each. The first essay question is about qualitative research methods and the second essay question is about quantitative methods.
Instructions
You must answer ONE of the essay questions from Part A: Qualitative Methods. Your answer should be 1,000 words (+/- 10%) and will count for 50 marks.
You must then answer ONE of the essay questions from Part B: Quantitative Methods. Your answer should be 1,000 words (+/- 10%) and will count for 50 marks.
Part A: Qualitative Methods
Please answer ONE of the following two questions:
1. Many modules in your course at university include group assessments. However, students’ attitudes towards these assessments are unclear. While some education administrators and tutors claim that students enjoy them, others claim that students prefer individual assessments. You would like to research this issue, to understand what students’ attitudes are to such assessment, based on their past experiences. You also want to know whether participating in such group assessment is beneficial to subsequent project work assignments when students start working after university.
Describe a qualitative research study that you would undertake to address these two issues. The study you design should include information about your research question, participants, recruitment, measures, procedure, and analysis. You should consider what issues might occur when conducting the study and how you might address these issues in the design of your study. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your study?
2. You have been contracted by a university to investigate the relationship between students’ living arrangements (whether they live on-campus or off-campus) and their performance on their course. Develop a research question that might help you frame a qualitative research project. Then describe a qualitative study you would conduct to answer your research question.
When you describe your qualitative research project, you should include information about your research question, participants, recruitment, measures, procedure, and analysis. You should consider what issues might occur when conducting the study and how you might address these issues in the design of your study. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your study?
Part B: Quantitative Methods
Please answer ONE of the following two questions:
3. You have just been hired as the Assistant Manager of a gelato (ice cream) shop in Brighton. The gelato shop wants to introduce a new flavour next month to celebrate the summer season. You’ve come up with four different options for the new flavour: apple pie, coffee, banana split, and chocolate chip. Describe how you would design a consumer-focused research study in order to determine which flavour should be introduced next month.
The study you design should include information about your research question, participants, recruitment, measures, procedure, and analysis. You should consider what issues might occur when conducting the study and how you might address these issues in the design of your study. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your study?
4. Many people argue that playing violent video games causes children to become more violent and aggressive. Describe how you would design a research study in order to determine whether playing violent video games causes children to be more violent.
The study you design should include detailed information about your participants, recruitment, measures, procedure, and analysis. You should also discuss what specific issues might occur when conducting this study and how you can design a study that helps to address these issues. What are the limitations of your proposed study?

Frequently asked questions
How soon can I get my paper done?
It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.
Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.
We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.
Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?
All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.
What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?
Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!
Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?
We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.
I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?
Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.
I got my order information wrong, can I change that?
Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.
Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?
Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
